Coach Steve Youngman, residing in the Penfield/Webster area, has been deeply involved in lacrosse from his youth in Irondequoit, New York. His early passion for the game led him to notable achievements as a player at West Irondequoit High School and SUNY Geneseo, where he excelled as a Long Stick Midfielder and participated in key tournaments such as the ECAC 2003 and the SUNYAC 2004 Championships, advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals.
Transitioning to coaching post-graduation, Steve served as an assistant coach at SUNY Geneseo, where he significantly contributed to game preparation and player development. He also founded LAX 4 LIFE, a youth lacrosse camp, fostering skill and discipline among hundreds of young players. Later, he continued coaching at West Irondequoit High School, achieving multiple Section V Championships and earning accolades such as Monroe County Assistant Coach of the Year.
Steve's coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, fundamental skills, and team cohesion, underpinned by his commitment to developing both the physical and mental toughness of his players. His approach has consistently proven effective, as evidenced by his teams’ successes and his ongoing role in advancing lacrosse in Monroe County. Steve remains dedicated to coaching, focusing on instilling a strong work ethic and a love for the game in young athletes.
